AriaSoldato.com is an online shop I built around my recent drawing studies. I gave the site two modes: bright & dark. With the dark mode I wanted to give it a vintage gallery feel, where the works displayed against deep red background get even more vibrant. As an artist I am fascinated by the light, the way it bounces off surfaces and how it breaks into colour. Coloured pencils is the medium I’m exploring recently. The process is slow, layered, closer to oil painting than you'd expect. I draw places where the light has an impressionistic quality, working from observation and found imagery. I begin with a reference scene that catches the light in a way I can’t ignore.
