For the past few years, something strange happened to designers. We slowly became machine operators. Instead of thinking about form, ideas, and visual exploration, we started managing systems. Components, Auto-layout, Tokens, Design systems... Important things, sure. But honestly, they often felt like a small bone stuck in the throat of creativity. A lot of our energy went into maintaining structure instead of creating new things. Now something interesting is happening. Tools like Figma Make and the new wave of vibe coding tools are opening a completely different playground. I’ve been playing with it a bit, just experimenting. The video below is one small result. Nothing polished, Just curiosity. My guess is that a year from now, most of the technical mechanics we deal with today will happen automatically. Systems will build themselves. Structure will generate itself. And designers might finally get something back. Time to think, Time to explore, Time to design again. So instead of worrying that AI will take our jobs, maybe we should look at it differently. Not as a threat. But as a new tool in the toolbox.
