Project description

Jr Jams is a music app for kids, so the website had to be fun. jrjams.com. Built with Fable. I'd heard that Fable worked best with a lot of data, so I gave it the entire Jr Jams app codebase plus my usual design direction. That worked pretty well. Fable was able to get a bit further on its first pass, mostly by anticipating things I would have otherwise had to follow up with additional prompts for, like creating the rotating song art animation, the music player itself, and testing on mobile. It contributed a few design details as well, like the animated sound wave visual. Overall, it felt like working with a senior engineer and a junior designer. Otherwise, it was pretty much the same as any other model. There is no way I would have shipped the first pass. I added a ton of polish, same as ever. I still drove the design and craft. Also, this is not at all my workflow for corporate work, for what it’s worth. Still, Fable helped get there a little bit faster (about two evenings) which made it worth doing. Even though it's just a simple HTML and CSS one-pager, I probably wouldn't have taken the time to make it if it had taken much longer. Check it out and let me know what you think!
