AI Master awards winning series - Robin kane
Project description
Bodies of burden - We become the architecture of the pressures placed on us. This series explores the quiet weight we carry — emotional, social, and historical — and how the body reshapes itself around expectation. Figures bend, stack, merge, and fold into impossible structures, becoming both the scaffold and the sculpture. Robin Kane is a visual artist working across photography, performance-informed practices and digital art. With a background in contemporary dance and fine art, Kane approaches the body as a site shaped by memory, discipline, and adaptation. Movement training continues to inform the work, grounding each image in gesture, posture, and physical tension. Kane’s practice favours restraint and emotional precision over narrative clarity. Rather than depicting identity directly, the work explores states of becoming, where bodies appear held, fractured, or suspended between presence and disappearance. Kane’s work has been exhibited internationally and recognised through multiple juried selections, including winning the AI Master Award in Conceptual & Fine Art. An AICC Ambassador, Kane contributes to ongoing conversations around authorship and contemporary image-making while maintaining a concept-led, studio-based practice
