Project description

Brave is a contemporary reinterpretation of Bernhard Black (1928), a preliminary version that preceded Bernhard Block. This early design caught our attention for its bold, confident stance and slightly angled stems, which gave it an unexpected warmth and rhythm. We saw in those subtle stem details something timeless, a detail that still feels modern today. So, in a world full of neutral sans-serifs, we decided to create a Brave new one. The result is a sans family of 10 styles, built for clarity and impact. It balances early 20th-century strength with a refined, contemporary sensibility, making it perfect for branding, packaging, editorial layouts, and even extended text. Brave is both a tribute to early geometric typefaces and a confident step forward, distinctive, versatile, and full of character.
