Hedone
Project description
Ancient Greece sought not only to understand the world, but also to experience it through beauty and balance. In philosophy, sculpture, and everyday rituals, the body and the senses held a central place. It is within this cultural universe that Hedone, the personification of pleasure in Greek mythology, was born. This project originated from an academic assignment in an Art History course, where the proposal was to develop a fictional brand and product capable of coherently incorporating both the visual and verbal languages of a specific artistic style. Our group chose to explore the Classical Greek style, a period marked by the pursuit of harmony, proportion, and the ideal of beauty. From this starting point, we immersed ourselves in the world of Greek art—its mythology, rituals, aesthetic philosophy, and representations of the human body—to build the conceptual identity of the brand. The result was Hedone, a product inspired by the idea of sensory pleasure and self-care, symbolically connected to the practices of bathing and purification present in ancient Greek culture. More than a simple branding exercise, the project aimed to translate the principles of classical aesthetics into different communication formats. For this purpose, we developed not only the visual identity and packaging of the product, but also a fictional editorial magazine dedicated to presenting and contextualizing the chosen artistic style. Within this magazine, we explored the universe of Greek art—its architecture, sculpture, mythology, and aesthetic philosophy—while also placing the Hedone product inside this narrative, as if it existed within that symbolic cultural world. The project therefore operates on two levels: as a historical and editorial exploration of classical art, and as a branding exercise inspired by a specific artistic period. The visual language, graphic elements, composition, and conceptual discourse all dialogue with Greek aesthetics to create an experience that brings together art, myth, design, and storytelling.
